What is a Pipe? What is a Steel Pipe?

According to the Turkish Language Association Dictionary, a pipe is defined as a long and narrow hollow cylinder, open at both ends, used to transport liquids, gases, etc., from one place to another. This definition is partially correct, but not entirely sufficient.

Pipes can be manufactured from various materials such as metal, plastic, glass, cement, and ceramics, and they are used for a wide range of purposes. In fact, most of us may not even notice how frequently pipes are used in our daily lives — the bicycles we ride, the handrails in subways, traffic lights, the fences around our residential complexes, street lamps, football goals, and even foosball rods are all made using pipes. The slogan of Borusan Boru, our main distributor partner, “Wherever you look, we are there,” originates from this very idea.

Steel pipes are metal pipes produced from hot rolled coils, cold rolled coils, or coated steel coils.

In the market, the term iron pipe is sometimes used; however, this is technically incorrect, since pipes are made from steel, which is an alloy of iron and carbon. Therefore, the correct term is steel pipe, not iron pipe.
